Happy Birthday, VBM!

hunka hunka burnin' love, originally uploaded by hellozetta.

You are god's gift to me. You are so smart, and apt, and calm.
I don't know what the world would do without you in it, keeping things from going totally haywire.
You are generous with your time and with your love.
You work so hard in so many ways, and you do it without complaint, even if it hurts.
You are amazing and beautiful.
Happy Birthday,
VBM! There are lots of people being glad you were born, and I'm standing in that line, every day, always, and crazy in love with you.
May this next year be filled with new challenges, high adventure, and crispy bacon.

VBM's true colors

It is early in the morning, and I am soaking in the tub. I feel so tired, because I was up late the night before, having taken the VBM to see a live taping of his favorite radio show.
VBM is brushing his teeth.
"VBM, " I croak, "I am paralysed."
I am thinking that maybe he will gently lift me out of the tub, towel me off with a giant white furry towel, and feed me some bonbons.
Instead, he says this:
"Great! Where's your wallet?"

Why I Love The VBM #287560808940

This morning:
"VBM, maybe you should be a porn star, what with all your rippling muscles."
"I'm too good looking to be in straight porn, so it would have to be gay porn."

Table

Yesterday the VBM and I fashioned a table out of an old door and some sawhorses and threw a sheet over it. His family came over for dinner. The bought house, I said to VBM, will have a deck.
We ate a lovely arugula/fennel/radish salad brought by VBM's Mom, grilled chicken wings,(because we love them but when you really get down to it who does not love chicken wings, especially with Frank's Red Hot and bleu cheese oh my) grilled tilapia with a lime/chipotle/adobo buttery thing, and artichokes with aioli. There was a pitcher of fresh made mojitos and fresh cherry juice to add. And sourdough bread and a fresh fruit salad with watermelon, mango, and blueberry.
I love this family of VBM's. They are smart and wry and kind and being with them is like taking my shoes off and walking barefoot in the warm sand of a beach, a beach I've been to many times, and one I love to go to often.
