A list of things I have never et:
Osso Bucco
Linguini with clam sauce
Truffles
Cassoulet
Squid ink anything
Caviar
Lobster! Dammit!
Tripe
Foie Gras (can you believe that shit?)
Rack of Lamb
Some foods I really enjoy:
Chicken wings (though everyone I know loves them, even real foodies and people like VBM's Mom and the Lunch Lady.)
Hot dogs. Shut up.
Any sort of pasta with cheese or cream sauce
Burgers
Good ol' tots
White trash tacos--the baked hard shell kind with ground beef and chem seasonings, and yes, the ice berg lettuce garnish
Fried egg sammiches, but not with ketchup, the way my dad eats them
Denver. Omelet.
Hashbrowns. Oh fuck it. I love the potato the way all midwestern girls oughta.
Pretty much anything that has been dipped in batter and deep fried. (who doesn't??)
Dry wheat toast.
Mexican cokes
Please chime in with your guilty pleasures. I feel so alone!
15 comments:
1. Grocery store cake with crispy shortening frosting, including the Crispy sugary frosting flowers. corner piece please!
2. Cherry coke and Dr Pepper
3. Vanilla Zingers, paired with a cherry slurpee (only on hot summer nights).
4. Nuclear Orange Mac and Cheese from a box
5. Burgerville
That's enough. I better stop.
Oh Please! Why must you?
Cinnabon
Cheesecake (oh bring me heaven on earth)
McD's french fries.
Mint Mocha (on occassion)
Fettucine Alfredo (but only good versions)
Garlic mashed potatoes
Smallville
Fried Chicken and Mommy Dearest
Oh my, I don't think there is anything on any list that I don't like but I would like to add:
1. I second the corner piece of cake ECL mentioned, but I want the one with the flower on it. Super One makes great cakes.
2. Pretty much anything chocolate and a lot of it.
3. The croissants that come in the exploding tube.
4. Potato chips/ top the tater and a coke!
Zetta-- I can't believe you have never had lobster. It's good but boiled crawfish is much better, and more fun to eat!
GRE DONE!!!
that last one was me, my brain isn't completely on yet from the test yesterday :)
Tomato juice
Raised glazed donuts
Grizzly's hot wings (or anybody's)
Crispy bacon
Eggs benedict
Hostess cream filled cupcakes
Peanut butter
Mom, tomato juice hardly qualifies as a guilty pleasure...unless you are adding it to your morning vodka.
Anything for breakfast that I can put syrup on, pancakes, cinnamon bread french toast, waffles, etc.
Add sausages and hashbrowns from leftover baked potatoes.
Real whipped mashed potatoes with real gravy from the roast.
Vanilla ice cream with sliced bananas and choc sauce.
Sweet and sour ribs with rice and lots of sauce.
Fried Farmer sausage, homemade egg noodles and a cream gravy made from not only the drippings in the pan from the sausage, but some added butter and lots of whipping cream!
Zetta, neither does dry wheat toast qualify as a guilty pleasure. If you hadn't had that in there, I wouldn't have included tomato juice. But with vodka sounds ok too!
Fried bologna sandwich on white bread with yellow mustard, served of course with Ruffles.
Large greasy Reuben sandwich.
Liverwurst. I know!
Starbucks java chip ice cream.
Nacho Doritos.

T230
T230, my dad used to make these sandwiches that went something like this:
toasted wonder bread
mayo
THICK SLICE OF LIVERWURST
mayo
toasted wonder bread
they were actually really tasty!!
Our dad used to make SHIT sammiches. Zetta, remember?
There was no hard and fast recipe for these "creations" they were put together with whatever happened to be in the fridge; pickles, peanut butter, cheese, leftover hot dogs, chicken ham, and always braunschwagger (sp?.
I wonder if he still does this?
yes I still make shit sandwiches
Guilty pleasures:
An entire Totinos frozen cheese pizza folded in half like a calzone
French fries dunked in Ranch dressing
Little Debbies of just about any variety (haven't had one in years!)
A mixing bowl portion of sugar-based cereals I enjoyed as a kid: fruit loops, apple jacks, COOKIE CRISP. Seriously people, who would buy a child a breakfast food with the word COOKIE in it?
I have three to add:
1. Donuts (the caky kind not Krispy Kreme style)
2. Chubby Hubby
3. Chocolate milk (made with real milk and Hershey's syrup)
