chamomile tea

When did we start loving chamomile tea?
I wondered this just a minute ago, as I was pouring hot water into a glass mug, over a bag of chamomile. Almost all my girlyfriends love this tea. Tea wasn't something I was introduced to as a child, even though the first chamomile I ever knew was growing in the driveway at our house in Minnesota. I used to pick the small yellow buds and crush them between my fingers. They smelled of apples, or vanilla. Matricaria is a favorite herb, used as a nervine, a stomachic, and it soothes the liver.
Best of all, maybe, is that this flar is a sunflower, also one of my favorites. I can't remember when it was I started drinking chamomile tea and associating it with comfort and warmth and well being. I'm sure glad I did, though. I find combining the chamomile tea with a fuzzy bathrobe and a big white furry babeh helps to amplify the effects of the tea. You should try it.

I remember my first cup. You lived on Pleasant Ave. I came down to move stuff into my apartment but slept on your futon. I had a headache from traffic stress so you gave me a cup o chamomile. It was love at first taste. Now I not only love chamomile but many others as well. I have a cup of tea just about every night even in the summer. I also discovered I was allergic to down that same time from sleeping under your down comforter.

I don't remember that. Are you sure I lived on pleasant? Maybe it was that little place on Ridgewood, or Como?
