I know it has been a long time since the last fresh post. I have been letting time get away from me, so today maybe there will be two!
Some items:
Thanksgiving was a lovely time with VBM's family and Goldilocks, who is part of the whole bunch anyways. We had a potluck fete, and everyone did wonderful things. There was a roast chicken that had cooked away on a bed of leeks, fennel, and bacon, with lemon and thyme. There was a salad of field greens and mandarins dressed in a snappy apple-cider vinaigrette. There was a pitcher of cranberry mojitos. There was a pile of kale, with bacon, naturally, and some green beans in a balsamic shallot butter, and I made scalloped potatoes with cream and not a bechamel. The most amazing dish that was set before us was a CHEVRE CHEESECAKE that almost wasn't born, but we were sure glad it had been. After that I was able to get some much needed rest.
Yesterday there was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. At the end of the Triwizard tournament and what happens with Voldemort and the Deatheaters and Cedric Diggory? That is exactly how I feel when I think about the Bush administration.
There was excellent girlfriend bonding.
There was a smallish rodeo on Monday that involved wind, a flying cowboy hat, and me almost getting rubbed off my mount on a tree.
There were busy workdays.
And I missed my mother this week, almost every day.

Allright goddammit, what is up with the fucking chevre cheesecake??? You know I NEED to know. Don't make me go crazy.
Btw, nice to hear from you my dear.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking in Goldilocks for the Holiday away from family.
Goldilocks isn't someone who has been taken in, I'm afraid. More like sucked in! And we love her!
And she is so thankful to have been adopted. Nice to have such a great family, even when my other family is far far away. Gives me inspiration to work on my not-quite-as-snappy-wit too :-)
TG dinner was awesome! I just finished the last of the potatoes, beans, and chicken last night. Mmmm. The CCC didn't last through the weekend, however.
